RESIDENTS in Workington and the surrounding areas may still face some disruption in bin collection over the coming weeks, as collections resume in the area on a ‘phased basis'.
Allerdale Waste Services and Unite announced on Tuesday, August 22 the successful resolution of the recent industrial action that has impacted on the waste and recycling collection services in the former Allerdale area.
The resolution means that services will now begin to resume to normal practice, however residents have been warned this may take a period of time.
A spokesman for Cumberland Council, who have 100% ownership over Allerdale Waste Services said: “Collections will resume on a phased basis over the coming weeks.
“Whilst staff have agreed to come back to work, a full collection service can’t safely happen overnight. Further information for residents will be available online soon.”
This previous industrial action did not affect waste services in the Carlisle and Copeland areas.
