The 1st Wigton B-P Scout Group is extending Scouting provision again, with the introduction of “Squirrels” for children who are 4- 5½ years of age.
Group leader Julie Bryceson said: “We have been asked several times about starting a section for younger children and we were planning well before COVID. However, everything was then put on hold, so it is now exciting to be able to announce we are actually doing it.”
The main leader has experience running a full time nursery, currently works with pre school children and has a level 3 Forest School qualification, so squirrels will be well looked after, with parents welcome to stay until their children settle in.
Uniform will be simple, a rust coloured jumper and Group necker and children will earn a variety of badges, with the main ones all connected to nature and gained through games and fun activities.
Squirrels will meet at Scout Land and at Blencogo Village Hall on Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm.
The Squirrel group will have a maximum of 12 children and places are expected to go quickly, so please don’t delay in contacting Julie by e-mail: juliebryceson@hotmail.com, or pop into The Scout Shop in Wigton, if you are interested in reserving a place.
