WORKINGTON Amateur Operatic Society are busy with rehearsals for their upcoming production of The Phantom of the Opera, which is set to be a showstopper.
This will be the first adult production of the musical in Cumbria and it promises to be a collection of top-quality performance with high technical aspects such as the infamous chandelier drop.
WAOS and The Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre have teamed up for the technical aspect of the chandelier crash.
Artistic Director and Leading Man, Tony McGee said : "The Iconic Chandelier is one of the biggest challenges that we face with this production.
"Our scenery supplier have newly refurbished it and Nigel Roebuck, the Technical Manager of the Carnegie Theatre, has made alterations to the structure of the proscenium arch to accommodate our ambitious plans. We hope this will provide a fabulous spectacle for our audiences."
Leading Ladies, Holly Harkness who will be playing Christine Daaé and Jasmin Smith who will be playing soprano Carlotta, went to London recently to see the professional production of the show where they both met their respective counterparts.
Holly said: "I first saw the show in London when I was 13 and have loved it ever since, but seeing it again this time round was even more special knowing I would be playing Christine in just a few weeks time."
The Phantom of the Opera will be showing from October, 10- 14th at the Carnegie Theatre, Workington.
Tickets are available from the Carnegie Website or the Carnegie Box Office
