There were green fingers galore in Cockermouth Town Hall when the mayor presented awards to the owners of the council's favourite gardens.
Every year town councillors tour their ward and choose what they consider to be the best gardens and allotments.
The winners are then invited to a buffet and presentation at the town hall.
Mayor Julie Laidlow said: "When you are driving around in a car you do not notice all these lovely gardens. But when we were walking around our wards you really appreciate the effort people have put into them.
"So many people have busy lives but the ones that are able to put time into their gardens have created some beautiful spaces. Some of the gardens are stunning."
