Six friends - the Cumbrian Colourists - who paint and exhibit together will mount an exhibition of their recent work in Keswick.

The six artists are: Sally Bohling, who lives in Mungrisdale; Pat Gill, Southwaite; Miriam Page, Cockermouth; Valerie Powell, Cliburn; Helen Scrimgeour, Red Dial and Isabel Tiffin, Stainton.

They all originally met at an oil painting class run by the late Keswick-based artist Philip McLeod Coupe in Portinscale.

"We are all also members of the Keswick Art Society, as was Sue Cumella, our much-missed friend and the seventh member of the group, who sadly died 18 months ago," said Sally.

Sue was renowned for her paintings of cyclists, the proceeds from the sale of several of which benefitted the Lake District Calvert Trust Charity in recent years.

The exhibition will be staged in Derwent Pencil Museum from Wednesday, November 1 until December 2.

During winter months, the museum is open between the hours of 9.30am and 5pm on Wednesdays until Sunday. It also stocks a wide range of art materials, including Derwent Fine Art Pencils, and has a coffee shop.
