THE selection process for the Labour party candidate for Penrith and Solway has begun, with a shortlist of three candidates revealed.
The selection for the Labour party candidate for the newly-created Penrith and the Solway seat will take place on December 9.
Councillors Markus Campbell Savours and Barbara Cannon are standing, as well as Josh James.
In a statement on social media, the Penrith and Solway Constituency Labour Party said: "The shortlist is out. Three great candidates for Penrith and Solway - Markus Campbell-Savours, Barbara Cannon, Josh James. Hustings & selection 9/12, Market Hall, Wigton."
The new constituency will stretch from Seaton in Workington and encompass Maryport, Cockermouth and the Solway, then east to Eden and Alston Moor.
It's coming in to being as a result of a boundary review across the country.
The winning candidate will stand against current Conservative Workington MP Mark Jenkinson and Liberal Democrat candidate Julie Aglionby in the 2024 General Election.
