Solway Holiday Village on Skinburness Drive in Silloth, has submitted plans for the removal of existing structures and the installation of a children's play park, which includes features such as a splash pad, outdoor pool and water slides, along with other facilities at the park.
The application has been submitted to include the 'removal of existing structures, including part of the Lido Building, and the installation of a children’s play park including a splash pad, outdoor pool, water slides and various play structures; creation of a new access stairwell; erection of supporting facilities including a food & beverage unit and changing facilities; recladding of the Lido Building including a new rear access, provision of an ancillary plant room, and associated hard and soft landscaping and infrastructure works'.
The design proposal includes the building of a roman fort style clamber and play area, as well as a sand pit digging activity in a dry play area.
The wet play area has plans for a play ship complete with slides, as well as interactive activities, water tunnels, family slides and spray jets.
At the time of sale, in a letter seen by the Times & Star Mr Hagan commended the new owners for the way that they run holiday parks in the UK and around the world, saying that they will be able to take the park to 'the next level' in coming years.
The plans were submitted to Cumberland Council on December, 6 and will now go through a consultation process with the planning department.
