A VILLAGE play area has been upgraded and opened this week by Workington town council after being closed for some time.
Harrington Marina play park closed on November, 16 for the council to carry out an upgrade of the park, which needed to be replaced due to safety concerns with the previous frames and play area.
The park re-opened with an upgraded play area on Monday, December 4.
The play park has re-opened with a new play frame, slide and interactive activities for children on the park.
The council first announced they would be looking to get the new play area in 2021.
In a statement ,Workington Town Council said : It is always our intention to improve and develop play areas within the town to benefit the whole community.
"The old climbing frames at Harrington were no longer safe, they were rusting, corroding and showing significant signs of wear and tear.
The town council also said that further improvements may be made in the future, they said: "budget dependant and Harrington Marina Play area will be see more investment and development next year."
