WORKINGTON'S shopping centre Christmas tree has had to be taken down after being damaged by strong winds earlier this month.
The Workington Shopping Centre tree, provided by Workington Town Council, had to be removed from the town centre after being 'badly damaged' in strong winds at the start of December.
The town council said it has worked to try and repair or replace the tree in time for Christmas, but 'sadly have not been able to'.
A statement from Workington Town Council said: "Sadly, our large Christmas Tree outside The Entertainer and Bensons for Beds got badly damaged in the very strong winds a few weeks ago and had to be removed.
"Our contractors have worked really hard to try and repair the tree or find an alternative, but have not been able to in time for Christmas.
"I'm sure you will agree that the tree looked beautiful; really adding to the other wonderful lights in the town and hopefully we can get something sorted for next year."
