A CAROLS around the tree event brought Christmas in with style to one West Cumbrian village, with people in Harrington coming out to spread festive cheer.
The event organised by Councillors Paul Larkin, Nath Martin, and Angela Larkin with help from Cllr Denise Rollo and Coastal Communities was a huge success.
Taking place on Saturday, December 16 the community gathered to bring in Christmas time at the Harrington Christmas tree located on Church Road in the village, singing Carols alongside the Cleator Moor Brass Band.
A spokesman for the event said: "Even though the weather was horrible lots of people and families still turned up and sang along with the brass band.
"Then the children were treated to a visit from Santa and his elves all the way from the North Pole, he was kind enough to present every child with sweets, a selection box ( donated by MP Mark Jenkinson) and a bag of gifts each.
"Coastal Communities presented £100 cheques to Ani-Mel, Autism support Allerdale and Copeland, St Mary’s Church, Harrington, Hospice at Home and the Freedom project.
"Both councillors and Coastal Communities are hoping to replicate the Carols around the tree next year."
