DRIVERS in Workington have been warned after reports that a string from Christmas lights in the town centre is hanging down in the road.
Workington Town Council have said that police are currently assessing the situation and will shut the road if necessary.
The town council have said that contractors are on the way to rectify the issue with the Oxford Street lights, as they have warned drivers to take care when travelling down the town centre street.
In a statement, Workington Town Council said: "We are aware of one of the strings from our light on Oxford Street hanging down into the road.
"The police are assessing the situation and will close the road if they feel it necessary.
"Please take care when driving down Oxford Street.
"Out contractors are on their way to rectify the issue."
The council also wished to thank those who had alerted them to the lights, saying: "Thank you to everyone who called to report this to us."
