TWO Cumbrian holiday park owners have set themselves the ambitious goal of completing all 214 Wainwrights throughout 2024 in memory of their fathers.

Castlerigg Hall's David Jackson and The Quiet Site's Daniel Holder will climb all the peaks to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Both men lost their fathers at a very young age, Daniel when he was only 16, and David when he was 22.

The inspiration for the climb came following two outings up Skiddaw and Blencathra in 2023.

The pair have set themselves a target of raising £5,000 through a JustGiving page.

Promoting the fundraiser online, a post reads: "Running busy holiday parks in the Lake District, they are surrounded by the beauty of the area and see first-hand how much their guests enjoy the great outdoors and climbing the iconic Lakeland fells.

"Discussing their backgrounds over a beer, they discovered they’d both lost their fathers to cancer when relatively young and decided then that they should try to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and what better way than to try to complete all 214 Wainwright peaks in 12 months.

"So beginning in the New Year they will be setting off to bag their first Wainwright summit of the year," they said.
