A family-owned business in Cumbria has raised more than £7,000 for a local children's charity.

Lake District Hotels raised an impressive sum of £7,186.13 for Jigsaw Cumbria's Children's Hospice, their 2023 charity of the year.

This tradition of supporting local charities has been a heartfelt commitment for Lake District Hotels since 2016, and has raised over £65,000 for various causes during this time.

Dani Hope, director of Lake District Hotels, expressed her gratitude for the community's generosity in supporting the fundraising efforts.

She said: "We are delighted to have exceeded our fundraising goal of £5000 for Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice. The unwavering support from our suppliers, staff, and the local community to make this possible has been truly heart warming."

The total funds were raised through a series of engaging events, including gala dinners, charity quiz nights, a Royal Ascot Ladies Race Day, raffles, festive bingo night, Christmas dog walks, staff Christmas jumper days and more.

These activities not only brought people together but also showcased Lake District Hotels' commitment to making a positive impact on the local community.

When reflecting back on the partnership, Martha Pardoe, fundraiser for Jigsaw, said:

"It has been a real pleasure getting to know the Lake District Hotels team over the past year and being able to join in with all the wonderful fundraising for Jigsaw."

“A real highlight of our partnership with Lake District Hotels was the Royal Ascot event where Annie, whose sister attends Jigsaw was given the floor to talk about what a difference Jigsaw makes to her family’s life.”

Generous donations which have made all this fundraising possible have come from; Lake District Hotels Ltd, Porsche South Lakes, Caterite Food & Wineservice Ltd, Pioneer Foodservice, Elemis, ishga, Herdy, Lakes Distillery, Peter Tyson plus many more.

Lake District Hotels has already opened nominations for its 2024 Charity of the Year, as it looks for a deserving local charity to build a relationship with, continuing its tradition of supporting Cumbrian causes.

In the past, the group has successfully supported organisations such as Amy's Care, Blood Bikes Cumbria, Keswick School and Keswick Scouts.
