A HARRINGTON primary school headteacher has said he is 'proud' of his school community following a 'good' Ofsted inspection.
Beckstone Primary School in Harrington was rated 'good' by the schools watchdog following an inspection on December 5 and 6 last year.
The report praised the school, finding pupils to be 'happy'' and that they 'come to school eager to learn and are excited to see their friends and their teachers'.
The report said: "Pupils are greeted warmly by staff as they arrive each day. They flourish in the welcoming and friendly environment across the school, including in the early years."
Management was also praised, with inspectors saying the school was 'well led', as well as praising the strong relationship the school has with its parents. The report found parents 'told inspectors that the school is at the heart of the local community'.
David Warbrick, headteacher for Beckstone Primary School said: "The Ofsted inspection was well overdue and it had been over six years since our last one so we have been expecting a call for a long time.
"It is a relief to all we have now had the call and the visit. It was very re-assuring that we have maintained our high standards over this time.
"There was so much excellent practice we wanted to share with the inspection team but the framework and limited time didn’t make this possible. So it is very much a short snapshot of time and, of course, we are all pleased that the team found the school to be good and effective across all areas.
"One of the children interviewed by the team described the school as ‘one big happy family’, which they agreed was a good summation of the school.
"The parent questionnaire was very popular and there apparently were well over the number of responses Ofsted usually get and also they were overwhelmingly positive which apparently is not always the case either.
"I am proud to be the headteacher of a school with such well-behaved and hardworking pupils, an extremely supportive parental community and amazing staff who always go the extra mile to make all pupils’ experience of school a memorable one.
"I am also pleased that the ongoing and consistent school improvements and developments to the curriculum and all the additional provision have been recognised."
