THIS week we wanted to take a look at one of the most popular places to visit in Workington.
Dunmail Park has been a popular feature of the town for decades.
Over the years there have been a number of different stores in the shopping centre including a toy shop, a furniture store and a Wimpy fast food restaurant which were incredibly popular in years gone by.
In 2001 Dunmail Park became very popular with people in the area when Plaza Cinemas, a multiplex cinema opened.
The independent cinema was well known for showing many of the major release films along with recordings of opera and ballet performances.
The cinema closed back in 2021 but a new rebranded venue, Parkway Cinema, has now reopened in the shopping centre which is proving the be quite a hit.
Construction began on Dunmail Park back in 1986 after the site was purchased by J Dixon & Son Ltd on land near Siddick Pond which has been in use since the 19th century for mining and iron ore work.
The centre opened to the public in 1988 and has been much loved by the people of West Cumbria ever since.
These photos show some of the activities that have happened at Dunmail Park over the years.
We can see people enjoying a circus performance in the shopping centre, children and their families enjoying a fun day at Dunmail Park and a Christmas event that was held at the venue.
We hope that some of you may have some fond memories of these photos.
