A DEPUTY district judge has jailed a man after he admitted stealing a woman’s radiator and sink as well as a man’s freezer and washing machine.
Keiron Lucas, 25, committed the offences at Wigton in 2021, Carlisle’s Rickergate court heard.
The first theft happened on October 18, 2021, when the defendant stole the freezer and washing machine, valued together at £400.
The second theft was on November 2, 2021, but the value of the sink and radiator that were taken are not specified in court records.
After hearing the details, Deputy District Judge Gascoyne said only custody could be justified as a sentence.
Taking the guilty pleas into account, he jailed the defendant, of Front Street, South Hetton, Durham, for 14 days.
The district judge noted that the defendant committed the offence while he “was out with friends stealing.”
Lucas will be released at the halfway point in his sentence.
He was represented in court by defence lawyer Robin Ford. There was no compensation ordered for the victims due to insufficient details provided by the prosecution, say court records.
