PC Lowerson, Maryport's beat officer, saved a 'kessing' and injured sheep this week.
His farming knowledge alerted him that the seemingly sleeping sheep was 'kessing', unable to stand.
After crossing across the field, he confirmed his suspicion.
The unfortunate animal had been attacked by crows but was swiftly helped onto her feet, suffering only minor wounds.
The thankful farmer was immediately informed.
