CUMBRIA Police have been teaching school children about safe parking.
A police officer visited a school in Maryport on Wednesday, February 28, to teach the children about how to park safely near schools.
A spokesperson said: "This morning PCSO Harris has been to Ewanrigg School Maryport. The School's Mini Police have today been out looking at vehicles when they drop off pupils at the school.
"They witnessed vehicles parked on the zig-zags and block pavements, which caused members of the public to walk in the road, one with a pushchair.
"Vehicles parked directly outside of the school, where one child walked in the middle of the road with a car directly behind them, and a vehicle nearly hitting a member of the public. This is not acceptable."
