THIS week children in the Workington area have been celebrating World Book Day.
The day took place this year on March 7 and is a charity event organised annually aimed at encouraging children to start reading more.
Every child across the country is given a voucher which they can use to get a free book of their choice.
Schools often celebrate World Book Day and ask their pupils to come in dressed as their favourite fictional characters.
For over two decades, the event has been one of the most popular days of the school year as children get to dress up and have fun with their classmates.
There are often competitions where the teachers will judge the best costume in each year group.
Here at the Times & Star, we asked our readers to send photos of their children in their World Book Day costumes.
We've had some truly brilliant contributions and we hope you had as much fun looking at these pictures as we did.
