ANOTHER mesmerising show from a Workington amateur dramatic group saw audiences transported 'under the sea'.
Last week audiences at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington were on their feet after they were treated to The Little Mermaid musical performed by Workington Amateur Operatic Society.
Directed by Jennifer Hawley-McGee and performed by over 40 junior cast members along with support from a small number of senior members, the cast wowed audiences with their talents.
Tilly Kipling gave a beautiful performance as Ariel, capturing the curiosity, innocence and enthusiasm of the princess perfectly. There was amazing stage chemistry between her and Henry Voce in his role as Prince Eric. He enchanted audiences with his sensational singing and dancing.
Tom Hawley delivered the laughs as Sebastian the crab, Mark Stilwell was hilarious in his portrayal as Chef Louis, Grace Millington and her fellow seagulls were fantastically funny and Owen Davis-Johnston was adorable as Flounder.
Chloe Steadman played the delightfully devilish wicked Sea Witch Ursula. She was ably supported by Eve Millington and Ada Cochrane as Flotsam and Jetsam.
The impressive video screen, set changes, lighting, costumes and props, complete with descending bubbles, were wonderful during the entire production.
Robyn Miller’s spectacular choreography was captivating throughout the show.
Musical director Liz Condron did an impressive job marshalling such a large cast through such an iconic musical score. WAOS’ pool of talent guaranteed an evening of Disney magic for all.
