TEAMS of young farmers pulled together at the Northern District Pre-Field Day Tug of War, hosted by Greysouthen YFC at Hopes Auction Mart in Wigton.
The mixed Juniors competition was won by Penrith YFC, with Greysouthen YFC placed second. Third and fourth place went to Raughton Head and Drigg YFCs respectively.
Greysouthen YFC ladies team fought hard to take first place against second place Caldbeck YFC. Third place went to Skelton YFC and Raughton Head YFC were placed fourth.
The competition between Raughton Head and Penrith YFCs to take first place in the Men’s team was fiercely fought, with Raughton Head taking the upper hand and claiming first place and Penrith YFC placed second. Third place went to Longtown YFC and Kirklinton YFC were placed fourth.
The first and second Northern District teams in the juniors, ladies and men’s Tug of War will now go on to compete at the Northern Area Field Day which will be held on Saturday, June 8, hosted by Durham YFC. The 4 x 4 mixed Tug of War will take place on the Northern District Field Day in May.
The young farmers of the Northern District are all looking forward to their Field Day which will take place by kind permission of the Bowness family at Threapland Lees, Threapland, Wigton on Saturday, May 11.
