A RESTAURANT in Keswick has been given a new food hygiene rating.
Asaya Thai on Station Street has been rated one out of five after it was inspected on March 26. This means that major improvement is necessary.
The hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage was found to be generally satisfactory.
The cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control) to enable good food hygiene was also found to be generally satisfactory.
However, for the management of food safety, it was found that major improvement was necessary.
This included the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in the future.
