PERFORMERS from across West Cumbria were celebrated at the start of this month with three organisations bringing home trophies to the area.

Last weekend saw a two day event take place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens May, 4 and 5 as NODA North West held their regional weekend.

The event was attended by over 900 people over the two days with the Youth Awards on the Saturday and Adults on the Sunday and represented by 4 West Cumbrian Societies who were up for awards over both evening's and had nominees in various categories Maryport AODS, Whitehaven Theatre Group & Theatre Of Youth, WAOS (Workington Amateur Operatic Society) and WADAMS (Workington & District Amateur Musical Society)

The Regional winners were as follows:

  • Maryport AODS won Best Concert / Revue for their production 'Making Your Mind Up' - an original concept and script jam packed with 30 Eurovision hits.
  • For Whitehaven Theatre Of Youth Sam Dinwoodie won  Best Male Character Comedy Performance in a Youth Production for his portrayal of Tamatoa (Moana Jnr).
  • For WAOS Jasmin Smith won Best Supporting Actress In a Adult Production for her portrayal of Carlotta  (Phantom Of The Opera).
