A FAMILY-RUN firm has announced it will be closing their Workington store after 36 years.
J&Dixon & Son Ltd will be closing the Dixons Home Store at Dunmail Park Shopping Centre.
Dixons has operated a store on the premises since it first opened, initially as a department store, but more recently as a Home Store and Terrace Cafe.
Staff were informed of the plans to close the Home Store last week and consultations are taking place to ensure as few job losses as possible.
The closure will not impact Dixons Department Store in Whitehaven and will continue operating normally.
The firm has stated that there are plans for improvements at the Whitehaven store which should commence in the summer.
Director Marie Dixon said: "Following a review of the business and its future strategic direction, we have reluctantly decided to close the Home Store at Dunmail Park after 36 years.
"We will now focus all of our attention on our famous department store in Whitehaven, where there is a large furniture department, and will continue to serve the people of the area for many years to come."
