THE most popular names for babies born in the former Allerdale area have been revealed - with a new contender making the top spot for baby boy names.
The Office for National Statistics has announced the most popular names for boys and girls born in 2022, the most recent data available.
Ivy, Ada and Isla were the most popular girls' names in Allerdale, with seven babies given each name in 2022.
There was some continuity from 2021, when both Ivy and Grace shared the top spot.
Meanwhile, Arthur was the most common boy's name in the area. In total, eight babies were given the name in Allerdale in 2022.
The name unseated Oliver, chosen by 10 parents in 2021. However nationally Noah was found to be the most popular boy name.
James Tucker, head of health analysis at the Office for National Statistics said: "Noah was the most popular name for boys in 2022, for the second year in a row, having replaced Oliver at the top in 2021."
