VOLUNTEERS have been out this week improving paths at Yewbarrow.

The aim is to protect the area and prevent erosion of the paths.

The volunteers say that by protecting paths, that are well used by walkers, they can help to preserve the landscape.

The National Trust wrote on social media: "Earlier today, the West Lakes Fix the Fells volunteers were out on Yewbarrow for a very wet day of path maintenance.

"Without the hard work of this amazing team, the Lake District would look very different. By taking care of these well-trodden paths, we can continue to protect the landscape while making sure everyone can continue to enjoy this special place for years to come."
