A BUS company is set to cancel an early morning service following parents' safety concerns over children having to stand during their journey to school.
Ellenvale Coaches Ltd intends to axe the early-morning 68 services from Fletchertown onto Cockermouth, which allows pupils to get on at stops in Dearham and Maryport.
Whilst the registered bus service has a legal standing capacity, parents have raised concerns about their children having to stand on their journey to Cockermouth School due to its 'often full seated capacity'.
A spokesperson from Ellenvale Coaches said: “We will finish the early service on July 31.
"In light of the comments, we feel we have no alternative other than for this service to cease on the said date.
“As a company, we feel this will give you the maximum time to find another option for your children ahead of September.
“The size of the vehicle currently running will not change until school finishes.”
The 68 Services will continue to run at other times as usual.
