UPPIES and Downies charity committee members have raised £10,000 for good causes following a number of events to coincide with the traditional Easter series in 2024.
The charity committee is an off-shoot of the popular game which raises thousands for charity each year, with running events and the auctioning of charity balls.
This year, the group has donated £10,000 to good causes.
The team donated £8,000 to local group Andy's Man Club, who provide support for men's mental health throughout West Cumbria, as well as donating £2,000 to the Cumberland Infirmary in memory of Graeme Dixon for the care they gave him after a medical episode during the Easter Tuesday game this year.
Elvin Jarvis, who was part of the Uppies and Downies charity committee, said: "We are thrilled to be able to give such a large contribution to such a great cause. Myself, David Nutty Shepherd and Linda Williams would like to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets and came to the charity night.
"We would like to thank Dawn, David and Data for doing the sky dive, and all the lads who got waxed. We also donated £2,000 to the intensive care unit at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle."
