Leading professionals from across the UK came together for the relaunch of a Cumbrian remote nuclear engineering firm.
CORE Nuclear Solutions, formerly known as PAR Systems UK, marked their rebranding with a grand event at their Workington headquarters on June 6.
The gathering saw the presence of industry peers, clients, and staff members.
John Grainger and Lee Grears from Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC), as well as CORE's managing director, John McGibbon gave speeches.
The attendees were also treated to equipment demonstrations and networking opportunities.
The company first started operating as PAR Systems UK from Cumbria in 2010.
In 2021, it was acquired by John McGibbon, a local nuclear and engineering professional, through a management buyout from its American parent company, PAR Systems LLC.
CORE Nuclear Solutions currently has 46 team members based predominantly in West Cumbria.
Executive director of BECBC, John Grainger addressed the gathering: "The launch of CORE Nuclear Solutions was the culmination of a journey that began with the arrival of PAR Systems from the USA as an inward investment in Seascale.
"Now is the right time for a rebrand with CORE Nuclear Solutions on the cusp of further expansion.
"They are a great exemplar of a thriving SME in the Cumberland economy."
The firm's managing director, John McGibbon, was elated at the turnout for the event: "It was great to see many of our industry friends, clients and colleagues gather for our re-launch event on Thursday.
"Our event was a great opportunity to reinforce our commitment to strengthening our offering and social impact here in Cumbria".
He added: "With a strong focus on safety, reliability, and innovation, CORE is dedicated to nurturing the future generation of engineering talent.
"We currently have five apprentices and collaborate closely with Lakes College and the local engineering academy Energy Coast UTC.
"The future of CORE will focus on continuing to grow our capability, turnover and workforce, we would like to get to 60 employees in the next two years."
