A PATIENT was airlifted to hospital following a medical incident in a Workington park over the weekend.

On Sunday, July 7 the Great North Air Ambulance critical care team was activated at 10.21pm to reports of a medical incident in Vulcan Park, Workington.

The crew on the helicopter assessed the patient giving them urgent treatment before they were airlifted to hospital.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: "We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 10.39pm.

"Our team worked alongside the North West Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient before airlifting them to hospital."
