A WEST Cumbrian village carnival has had another great year despite the weather - with organisers saying the event only continues to get 'bigger and better' as the time goes by.

Flimby Children's Carnival was held in the village last Saturday, July 6 with many turning out to don their costumes and join in the annual event.

Smurfs, snow queens and even an ex- Prime Minister were seen roaming the streets of the village as crowds delighted in the fun of carnival day.

And many of its stalwarts were also recognised on the day, Jen Graham and Karen Markham who have ran the carnival for 10 years were both were presented with some flowers from Karen's family and friends in recognition of all their hard work to make sure the event goes ahead.

A spokesman for the carnival said: "This is getting bigger and better each year but they could not do this with out their family who help on the day

"We had a very good turn out, and good support from Seaton. We had a down pour at 3 pm but the floats got home dry this did not stop the fun people danced in the rain."
