CUMBRIA Police have responded to reports of youths breaking into buildings.

These incidents have been taking place in the Workington area.

Officers are warning parents to ensure they know where their children are in an attempt to prevent this type of activity.

In a post on social media, Cumbria Police said: "Over recent weeks police have received reports of youths breaking into buildings in the Workington area.

"Whilst we appreciate that it is incredibly difficult to know where your child is at all times, we urge parents to take responsibility and speak to their child about acceptable behaviour. This kind of behaviour can have a detrimental effect on individuals and communities.

"If you are a victim or witness to this behaviour, please report it to us so we can target our resources accordingly.

"Not only do those breaking into buildings run the risk of being arrested, but they also run the risk of coming to harm as those buildings being entered are not necessarily safe."
