North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) is expected to launch its new electronic patient record (EPR) system next year.

NCIC has selected Alcidion as the preferred provider for its new platform.

The trust, providing hospital and community care for around half a million people, has settled on Alcidion’s Miya Precision platform.

The aim is for the modular EPR is to enhance digital maturity and support clinicians as they deliver high-quality, safe care to patients.

The intuitive design, ease of use, and compatibility of the platform with other specialist systems led the trust’s EPR evaluation team towards this decision.

Dr Adrian Clements, executive medical director for NCIC, said: "We are pleased to have selected Alcidion as our preferred EPR provider on what is a significant advancement for North Cumbria in modernising our technological offering to provide a better service and experience for our patients, whilst also significantly increasing our digital maturity as a trust.

"Over the last few months, many of us have spent a great amount of time evaluating the various electronic patient record systems in order to reach the correct conclusion to help us implement the best possible dynamic EPR system.

"I feel assured and confident that selecting Alcidion will allow us to implement an EPR that enables high-quality patient care, improves clinical safety and saves clinicians’ valuable time."

Alcidion’s Miya Precision will enable mobile working, streamline patient flow, and support decision-making processes.

It will also provide clinicians with real-time access to unified patient records.

Alcidion has previously partnered with NCIC, providing its patient administration system.

Alcidion's managing director, Kate Quirke, said: "We are excited to build upon our existing relationship with NCIC as the trust’s preferred EPR supplier.

"Having been the supplier of the trust’s patient administration system for more than eight years, we are now able to continue our relationship by bringing the full Miya Precision capabilities, alongside our partner applications, to deliver a comprehensive electronic patient record, accessible across NCIC."

NCIC is the second trust within the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System to choose Alcidion's Miya Precision.

NCIC and Alcidion aim to finalise what is expected to be a 10-year contract, with deployment of Miya Precision scheduled to begin early 2025.
