The Aspatria Library is set to reopen following a refurbishment.
Promising a range of services, the library has been overhauled to create a modern building for residents to use.
The building will feature a contemporary library space, alongside a new children’s library to inspire young readers.
In addition to this, the library will offer a PC station, extending internet access to all patrons.
The library will open its doors on Wednesday, August 7, with a celebration event planned for the week beginning August 19.
In the interim, a temporary library service is being provided at the children’s centre on King's Street.
Alongside the library facilities, there is a dedicated space for children up to five years of age.
The aim of this space is to support the council’s commitment to give children the best start in life.
This space includes a playroom, a 'messy play' area for creative activities and a secure outdoor area.
A multipurpose room for community programmes such as adult learning courses and health and wellbeing sessions is also included.
Cllr Anne Quilter, executive member of Vibrant and Healthy Places for Cumberland Council, said: "We are thrilled to bring this newly transformed library to Aspatria.
"This facility will provide valuable resources and services to our residents, fostering learning, growth, and community engagement.
"It represents a significant investment in our community's future, and we can't wait to see the positive impact it will have."
Cllr Emma Williamson, executive member of Children's Services, Family Wellbeing and Housing, said: "The new children’s centre is a fantastic addition to the transformed library building.
"The fantastic space for 0-5 years, complete with a playroom, 'messy play' area, and secure outdoor space, is designed to give our youngest residents the best start in life and we look forward to welcoming families soon."
Cumberland Council and the Allerdale Local Committee funded the project, and the refurbishment work was completed by Roland Hill.
