A father and son duo are set to take on all of the races at the Workington Festival of Running in order to raise funds for local amateur boxing clubs.
Alan and Elliot Murray will take on every event at the festival which is set to take place on Sunday, August 4, with this including a half-marathon, 10-kilometre, five-kilometre, and one-kilometre run.
The pair are taking on the events in order to raise money to help children in the area attend one of six local amateur boxing clubs such as Carlisle Villa, Workington, and Whitehaven.
Ahead of the festival, the duo have already raised £255 through their JustGiving page, smashing their initial £250 target.
Ahead of the mammoth challenge, Alan was on hand to explain his and Elliot's wish to help more youngsters to get involved in boxing during the summer holidays.
He said: "We are hoping to raise funds for less privileged youngsters to be able to attend Workington ABC, Whitehaven ABC, Carlisle Villa, Maryport ABC, Wigton ABC, and Egremont ABC during the summer holidays.
"I have always liked to raise money for worthy causes and dig out my old running shoes, so the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree, as Elliot is also a keen runner and fundraiser."
