The Taste of the Sea festival returns to Maryport's historic harbourside this month.

The festival, organised by Taste Cumbria, will be back for its fourth outing on August 10 and 11 - with a promise that it will be bigger and better than previous years.
More than 50 stalls offering food, drink, crafts and gifts will be at Marine Road's grassland, beside Maryport Marina.

Onstage at the Vici Demo Stage there will be cooking demonstrations and the Festival Stage will play host to live music.

The festival will feature a host of fun activities for children including a fairground, games, and art workshops.

Youngsters can take part in the Art Trail, where they need to find schoolchildren's artworks inside various town businesses, with the possibility of winning a Samsung Tablet.

There will be plenty on offer to seafood lovers over the weekend, whether it's a fresh catch straight from the Chelaris boat or enjoying delicacies at the festival’s new Oyster Bar.

Saturday’s Fish & Fizz Supper at Her Citi cafe, hot sea treats from Portobello Wood Fired Pizza, or the Lake District Lobster & Seafood stall are also on the menu.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council’s executive member for vibrant and healthy places,  said: "This year’s Taste of the Sea festival is shaping up to be another brilliant event.

"It is fantastic that we can bring you all this free entertainment, as well as boosting the local economy with a fabulous shopping, eating and drinking experience.

“Don’t forget to visit Maryport’s brilliant businesses while you’re in town too. It’s great to see how they get behind the event, alongside our excellent sponsors and supporters, and really celebrate everything there is to offer."

Visitors will also have the chance to meet Cumberland Council's Maryport regeneration team overseeing the town's ongoing £12 million investment.
