A new community sustainability group has celebrated the opening of a new Enterprise Car Club in Cockermouth.
Cockermouth Climate Action Now (CAN) is working to promote nature and reduce carbon emissions, and believes that the new car hire setup at the Police Station on Lamplugh Road fosters these goals.
The car club will allow members to access shared hire vehicles for as long as necessary.

Shared hire vehicles in convenient locations reduce the need for personal car ownership and could lead to a reduction in traffic.
The club in Cockermouth offers two cars which can be booked and unlocked via a mobile app, removing the need for queueing.
The cost of hire is affordable, with hiring beginning at £3.50 for a half-hour, illustrating an economical approach to car hire.
Cockermouth resident and CAN member, Jack Tatham turned to this service to transport bulky items that could not just fit on his bike.
He said: "It's an easy and affordable alternative to car ownership."
