A NEW piercing studio has opened in Workington after a Cockermouth businesswoman decided to take a leap into doing something she loves.

Triple Moon Piercings offers a range of ear, facial and other body piercings for those aged 10 and over in Workington town centre. The studio is located on the top floor above Girl North and is a private studio.

Speaking about opening the business, owner Rose Aitken said: "I’ve worked in various retail and office jobs since I was a teenager and while I’ve enjoyed them and they’ve paid the bills, they didn’t make me happy.

"I’ve taken inspiration from friends and people I know who have been in similar situations and over the years who decided to make that change for themselves by finding something they love to do and running with it.

"Angela Spencer, who owns and is the tattoo artist within Girl North, has been my biggest role model and mentor - she’s a strong, talented, fantastically encouraging woman who shares my views that if you want something in life, only you have the power to go out and make it happen.

"So here I am, making it happen."

Rose is fully certified and insured after being trained by the Tattoo Piercing Academy in Manchester.

The 35-year-old says she is 'a big advocate of needles not guns when it comes to piercings', with all of her equipment single-use, pre-packaged, and pre-sterilised.

"I take safety and hygiene very seriously and the cleanliness of my studio is kept to very high standards", said Rose.

Speaking about the opening of the business, Rose said: "The first few weeks have been really exciting.

"I’ve enjoyed meeting everyone that has came through the doors and get a real buzz from seeing people leave with a new little something themselves, whether it’s people who have just got their very first piercing or those who are adding to what they have already or people who have had a piercing previously but let it heal over and want it redone.

"I love meeting folk and getting to know them during their appointment. It’s always laid back and at their pace."
