CELEBRITY adventurer Bear Grylls has said he is 'proud' at the opening of a new Scouts group in West Cumbria - which he believes will allow more young people in the area to 'gain skills for life'.
Chief Scout Bear Grylls OBE made his comments following the opening of a new branch of the 4th Workington Scouts Troop earlier this year.
Mr Grylls said: "I’m so proud that 4th Workington Scout Troop has opened in Workington. This is good news for Scouts and good news for the local community too.
"This means that now more young people in Workington will be gaining skills for life, making new friends, preparing them for a brighter future.
"They also get the chance to be active citizens, making a difference in their local area. Why? Because as Scouts we make a promise to help other people.
"I’m so excited to see the positive impact 4th Workington will be making in the community.

"A very big thank you to every Scout, parent, carer and volunteer who’s made this happen. Together, we’re a force for good, helping shape a new generation."
