Amanda Marshall, who was experiencing flooding on Skiddaw Road in Mirehouse, shared her experience this morning.

She said a drain in the front garden burst.

"Last time it happened it was raw sewage bubbling up that the kids and I had to walk through to get out of the house."

She said this affected her eldest daughter badly as she is autistic and 'hates change'.

"We were getting hungry as it took nearly a week before someone came out.

"It's stressful when we're trapped in and can't get out to buy food."
