Cockermouth Harmonic Singers are encouraging people to join the choir for a feel-good musical boost.

According to the group, singing has health benefits such as improving one's breathing, stamina, and mood.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings between 7.15pm and 9.30pm during school terms at the United Reformed Church on Main Street, Cockermouth.

The choir welcomes new members and ensures a warm reception to all.

No auditions are required, nor is formal singing training.

However, a love for music, a good ear, and a hefty dose of enthusiasm are deeply appreciated.

People of all age groups and backgrounds come together, united by a shared passion for singing.

Those at school or in full time education are only asked to pay a 'nominal' subscription fee.

This season's programme commences with the learning of music for Advent, signalling the impending arrival of Christmas.

The initial three rehearsals are offered free of charge as a trial to potential members.

The choir will resume its activities for the year on Monday, September 9.

For more information about the choir's activities, the chairman, Diana Tillman, can be contacted at 07917 590769.

Alternatively, interested individuals can directly join a Monday rehearsal session.
