A DRINK-DRIVER who was nearly three times over the legal limit has been banned from the roads for 25 months.

Arran Tiffen, 43, was driving a Ford Transit on the a596 at Prospect on August 23. A breath test showed he had 104mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit to drive is 35mcg.

Tiffen, of Westrigg Road, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above the limit when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant was banned from driving for 25 months, to be reduced by 25 weeks, if he completes the drink-drivers’ rehabilitation course.

Tiffen must also complete a three-month alcohol treatment programme. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
