Man used kitchen knife to damage cars after bingo win

A drunk man who went out with a large kitchen knife to damage vehicles after winning at bingo had no memory of the incident, a court heard.

David Scott, 35, had been out drinking in Workington before arming himself with the blade and going out to damage vehicles in the early hours of September 7.

Offender skipped probation appointments for Ibiza 'holiday'

A Carlisle offender who skipped two appointments with the Probation Service so he could take a “working holiday” abroad has been jailed.

Despite his lawyer's plea for leniency – based partly on current prison overcrowding – 35-year-old Luke Fothergill was given an immediate three-month jail term by a Carlisle Crown court judge.

Drunk woman called her neighbour a 'scruff' and hit her window with a pole

A woman warned a neighbour “I will cave your skull in” while drunk outside her home.

By being under the influence of alcohol in public on Windermere Road, 56-year-old Cheryl Bragg committed what a judge calculated was the 19th breach of a court order put in place to keep her out of trouble.

Danger driver reached 100mph on dark Cumbrian roads

A danger driver hit 100 mph-plus with his car lights switched off during a late night police chase on a rural north Cumbria road in his dad’s car.

Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard how a constable began tailing the Volkswagen Golf following an incident in the village of Abbeytown on August 3 year.

Man admits helping to run 'professional' cannabis farm

Drilon Hasani, 32, was one of two men charged following the discovery last month of 1,000 plants at the Lowther Street building, which a drugs expert has estimated had a street value of at least £200,000 but potentially much more.

A Whitehaven man has been jailed for six years and nine months for child sex offences.

Stephen Wilson, 60, of Burnmoor Avenue, Whitehaven was jailed at Carlisle Crown Court on Tuesday, September 10.

Thief helped himself to cash from rucksack left on Whitehaven Harbour

A thief helped himself to cash from a rucksack after a woman walked off and left it on a harbourside bench by mistake.

Alan Fleming, 58, took £30 from a purse inside the bag after finding it on Whitehaven Harbour on the evening of July 23.
