A new café could soon open on Maryport Promenade.

A planning application has been submitted for a café, with both indoor and outdoor seating, to be built on the site of a former toilet block.

This development marks the final phase of the ongoing regeneration of Maryport’s Harbourside and Promenade.

The café, boasting large windows for panoramic views of the beach and Solway, will also feature public toilets and potential retail space for a beach shop.

The area around the proposed café has already been re-landscaped, with enhanced seating areas.

The neighbouring skate park, where work started this month, is expected to increase footfall in the area.

The Promenade has also seen improvements, with ageing railings replaced and more upgrades planned as funding permits.

The café is part of a larger initiative to revitalise Maryport, which includes the creation of a new event space, the replacement of the Shiver Me Timbers play area, and the inclusion of a splash park.

Maryport Activity Centre is also set to receive enhancements.

Cumberland Council is overseeing the town's £12 million regeneration, with government funding facilitating the Promenade improvements.
