A FORMER chapel in Maryport has been sold at auction.
The chapel on Furnace Road was sold for £45,000.
It was put under the hammer by Auction House Cumbria at the Halston Hotel on September 4.
According to the Maryport History website, the former chapel, which was offered with vacant possession, was built in 1861.
It had been listed with a guide price of £35,000.
The former church is made up of a main room, kitchen, and sizable rear garden.
