A WEST Cumbrian town council has taken the decision to 'temporarily locate' to the town hall in Workington, after 'structural issues' with its current offices.
Workington Town Council purchased the former Princess Street Day Centre following a unanimous motion passed at its meeting in November 2020, under the former town council.
The building, on the edge of Vulcan Park, replaced Workington Town Hall as the council's home base.
However, following a number of 'structural issues' found at the Princess Street site, the town council has 'temporarily' moved back to their former home.
The town council have said that the move has been needed due to the issues within the Princess Street building, due to the impact the 'structural issues' could have on staff health and safety.
A spokesman for Workington Town Council said: "Workington Town Council has taken the decision to temporarily relocate to the Town Hall on Oxford Street due to structural issues at the Princess Street offices, which may have an impact on staff health and safety and needed to be addressed.
"There is a zero net cost to the taxpayer in the relocation."
