A WHOLE host of celebrities have visited West Cumbria over the past few years. 

West Cumbria is often forgotten about as many people flock to the central Lake District. 

But that does not mean it isn't worth visiting, with a stunning, dramatic, coastline and rich naval and Roman heritage that dates back centuries. 

Whilst the area does still thrive from a steady flow of tourists in the summer months, many may not realise the famous faces the have graced the streets we walk on each day. 

Here at Newsquest, we've put together a list of some of the superstars to have visited our area in recent years. 

Roman Fury

Back in April celebrity boxer Roman Kemp stayed at Moresby Hall near Whitehaven

He is the brother of the world champion boxer Tyson Fury and Love Island star Tommy Fury. 

He has been described by Tyson as an ‘aspiring cruiserweight champion of the future.’

Bez 

Moresby Hall is no stranger to celebs. Back in March Bez, of the iconic 90s Madchester band the Happy Mondays, paid a visit. 

He had made the booking under his actual name Mark Berry, much to the surprise of the hotel staff. 

Bez is also known for appearing alongside his former bandmate Shaun Ryder on the Channel 4 show Gogglebox. 

James Cosmo

The Game of Thrones and Braveheart star James Cosmo came to Whitehaven in December 2023. 

He did a meet and greet with fans at Rihcardson's wine shop where he promoted his new whisky. 

Charlie Hunnam 

This Hollywood star was spotted in a Sandwith pub. 

He has starred in the iconic crime saga Sons of Anarchy and also Pacific Rim. 

Cillian Murphy

The internationally renowned star who is known for portraying brutal gang member Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders was seen at Ennerdale Water just last month.

He was there filming the latest installment of the 28 Days Later franchise, 28 Years Later. 

Murphy has also starred in hit blockbusters like Batman Begins, Oppenheimer, and Inception.
