Cumbria in Bloom is gearing up for a trio of special awards ceremonies to celebrate the gardening achievements of communities across the region.

After spending the summer visiting a variety of gardens and communities, Cumbria in Bloom is set to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and groups with ceremonies in Whitehaven, Kendal, and Carlisle.

The events will see certificates and trophies handed out to deserving gardeners and community groups.

This marks the third year the organisation will host multiple smaller events, which they believe allows more volunteers to get the chance to receive their awards.

Chairman of Cumbria in Bloom, Ronnie Auld, said: "The Cumbria in Bloom 2024 awards are a celebration of what people and communities have been doing across the county.

"The three events are also a great opportunity for us to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who do wonderful things for their communities, which is so important."

The awards not only focus on the achievements of the entrants, but also serve as a platform to express gratitude towards the assessors who travel across the county to evaluate the entries across all categories.

Thanks are also extended to the business sponsors and donors, whose contributions enable Cumbria in Bloom to continue promoting horticulture.

Entrants and winners, along with members of Cumbria in Bloom, are invited to attend the 2024 awards events at The Beacon, Whitehaven, on October 14, Kendal Town Hall on October 15, and Cumbria Wildlife Trust's Gosling Syke at Houghton, Carlisle, on October 16.

A full list of Cumbria in Bloom 2024 award winners will be published following the final event and will be available at www.cumbria-in-bloom.org.uk.
