THE team behind the county's biggest car show has donated £2,500 to local charities.

Wigton Motor Club has presented £1,000 each to its two nominated charities for 2024, Carer Support West Cumbria and Jigsaw Hospice.

The donations were handed over by the club's president, Charles Graves, at the club's base, the Motor House, with Sharon Sewell representing Carer Support West Cumbria and Lorna de Nello Wright from Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.

The club also donated £500 to Cockermouth Rotary, in recognition of their help with managing parking during the highly popular Cumbria Classic Car Show.

The charitable contribution comes on the heels of a landmark year for Wigton Motor Club.

The club starred in Channel 5’s new series Cumbria, the Lakes, and Coast earlier in the year with August also marking the club’s most successful year yet for its flagship event.

The 'record-breaking' event drew 840 car entries from over 30 different motor clubs with 'bumper crowds' travelling from across the north to experience the spectacle at Dalemain Mansion with entrants coming from as far as Fife and Epsom.
