FAMILY and friends of a much loved west Cumbrian man have completed an epic challenge to remember the 18-year-old 'one peak at a time' - climbing all 214 Wainwrights in less than a year.

Walk for Lloyd was set up in memory of Lloyd Sutton from High Harrington, Workington following his death from bacterial meningitis in October last year.

Following his death, a group of Lloyd's friends came together to try and raise awareness around meningitis, and funds for charity Meningitis Now.

And that they did, on Saturday, October 12, and despite the wet weather hundreds of people turned out to walk Latrigg in Keswick, the final peak in memory of Lloyd.

It marked the end of an epic challenge for the group, which saw the Walk for Lloyd team raise awareness and tens of thousands of pounds for charity Meningitis Now - and gained them the Cumberland Council Special Recognition award at the Pride of Cumbria Awards this year.

"Our orange family and in particular, Lloyd's girlfriend Ella, have become a really close unit and we thank each and every one of them from the bottom of our hearts, with a special mention to our leader AJ, who worked tirelessly to plan the walks and ensure we got up and down safely.
